New Event: Emerging Caribbean Diaspora Writers In Conversation

Can*Con online events continue fast and furious!

Caribbean nations have a unique, complex history carved by colonialism, cultural mixing, revolution and more. Particularly in sci-fi, fantasy and horror, the way that Caribbean diaspora authors incorporate these influences into their writing is diverse and multilayered. How do the emerging writers on this panel explore ideas like cultural mixing and colonialism? What aspects of Caribbean culture or heritage do they feel drawn to writing about, as residents of Canada? While “Caribbean” or “Caribbean diaspora” are not monoliths, is there a specific mode of SFFH that is Caribbean-Canadian flavored?

This event will take place on November 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm EST.
