We are honoured to announce that the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) has awarded Can*Con a Giver’s Fund Grant! SFWA is an association of almost 2,000 science fiction and fantasy writers whose mission is to promote, advance, and support science fiction and fantasy writing.
These grants are awarded to support programs that further SFWA’s mission to educate, support and empower science fiction and fantasy writers.
What does this mean for Can*Con? We asked SFWA for help to expand our science track. Our programming is three-fold: writing (from beginner to pro!), reading (let’s talk books and stories!), and our experts/science track that draws heavily on local scientists to share cutting-edge research. This year, with SFWA‘s assistance, Can*Con science track will deepen into relevant policy and education areas as we seek to prepare for the future.
